“Facing the work of Pachi Benavente two ideas come to mind, two concepts linked and united to creation. The first is the gesture. A creative, spontaneous gesture that neatly and concisely arranges the white space. A gesture that generates a unique drawing. Ink furrows, straight lines that create a unique landscape. “Pachi Benavente's work explores the limits of the drawing tradition that moves between crafts and geometry, with echoes of the past and the Andalusian and perhaps Arab tradition that probably emerges from the author's subconscious due to his deep roots in Andalusia. Although the work is precious and of an almost mad thoroughness, its contemporaneity is undeniable and is manifested in that chameleonic and mutant capacity that makes it possible for his drawings to explore current formats of all kinds, flooding surfaces and volumes with his bicolor calligraphy of blues and whites, which are capable of being industrially produced in a successful manner.”.
